This year’s FEJS General Assembly is over!

53 FEJS members gathered from the 13th until the 18th of November in Ghent, Belgium.

There was a lot of fun, but a lot of work, too. The Supervisory Board will shortly prepare the full report upon this GA. For everyone who couldn’t come to Ghent we reveal some decisions adopted by the GA.

We elected 5 new Supervisory Board members for the year 2009:

·     Sytze Braaksma (Netherlands)

·     Aliki Eleni Darzentas (Greece)

·     Agnija Kazuša (Latvia)

·     Nicolas Naets (Belgium)

·     Stefanie Sirén (Finland)

The 25th FEJS Annual Congress will be organized by FEJS Slovenia in 2010.

The Chairperson will be head of FEJS Slovenia Jaka Benedičič.

Topic: GLOBAL JOURNALISM.

The General Assembly also decided that FEJS should register as an NPO under the Belgian legislation. It gave all powers to do it during next year to the Supervisory Board. However, FEJSers decided to postpone the establishment of the FEJS Permanent Office until FEJS has registered and has enough financial input to do so. FEJS will stay in the office in Brussels together wit Europsean Youth Press if the Secretariat and Supervisory Board will agree upon the new offer from the EYP.

The Supervisory Board congratulates to all newly elected FEJSers. We wish you all the best and good luck with your new duties.

We also thank to FEJS Belgium who organized the General Assembly 2008!

Well done everybody!

You’re attending the GA in Belgium. Great! Fun, friends and your favorite beers, basically. But what is the weather like over there? Do you need your winter jacket or your bikini? Check out what it means to dress like a true Belgian.

We are welcomming you with a culinary historic trip around Gent on Thursdayafternoon, starting from 2PM. The trip will end with a reception at the City Hall of Gent at 5PM, offered to us by one of the youngest parlementarians in Belgium, Mathias Declercq. So make sure you are in Ghent on time so you can be part of this great experience.

City Hall Gent

On Friday we are all welcome in the European Parliament with an in-depth debate. More information on that later on.

Saturday and Sunday are pure workgroup and debate days. We are looking forward to having great discussions with all of you.

Monday will be the celebration of our hard work. We are getting a guest lecture from Coca Cola, followed by a dinner in a Turkish restaurant (we think multicultural in Gent) in the Turkish area of Gent.
