FEJS Projects

FEJS Network - database

Aiming to consolidate the basis of this organization, the Secretariat wishes to establish a much stronger connection with the schools and universities in each European country. The FEJS network should be developed into two steps:

  • In each European country, one FEJS member should be chosen to be the Secretariat’s contact person.
  • Structure implementation at a local, regional, or national level, considering each country’s dynamics. The contact person should take this action in hands in a straight cooperation with the Secretariat.

Therefore, the Secretariat looks forward to enforce this organization role in the university and journalistic field. This recognition should also consider the most important European institutions and organizations (e.g.: European Union, Council of Europe). In order to achieve this goal, there are two steps of action:

  • Establishment of contacts with European and relevant media institutions, as well as with NGO’s.
  • Strengthening of the bound between the FEJS and journalism teaching institutions, giving priority to those in countries which have been recently absent from FEJS activities (e.g.: France, Austria, Ireland, Czech Republic, Belarus).

Through the update of the already existing database, the Secretariat wishes to develop a file capable of gathering the information concerning the FEJS members, the journalism teaching institutions and other relevant media organizations. These resources should be useful and available for all FEJS network (e.g.: members, schools, universities, media) for future development of local, national, or European level projects. The Secretariat wishes to:

  • Conduct a detailed research, country-by-country, of journalism teaching institutions, media organizations, foundations and other kind of potential FEJS partners (The Secretariat is obviously counting on the contact person’s help in this research).
  • Contact the European network of information for education issues - Eurydice Net.

Journalism Forum

It is the main journalistic project of the FEJS. It is our intention to create a technical magazine dedicated to the problems of news making in today’s Europe that may also be a privileged arena to think about the Media we are building on. This project aims to be a stage of experiments for young journalists to develop their skills. This can also be a mean of broadening the mind within the professional world. The editorial team strongly believes that it is important to count on the participation of those who can share with us different points of view, whether their action takes part in the journalistic field or in other relevant areas.
The editorial line follows as criteria both the quality of the articles presented regardless of authoring and also the will of having a major contribution from FEJS members, following and developing the Correspondent Model created by the Danish Secretariat.

  • Journalism Forum will be published four times a year and delivered by mail to all FEJS members, both individual and institutional, and also to other relevant institutions.
  • Journalism Forum is to be hard printed on paper or optionally published over the Internet with the possibility of downloading.
  • The FEJS official website will feature a special section dedicated to the Journalism forum themes. This section will have extra information to enrich the discussed issues on the magazine.

Exchange Projects - Mobility Program

In a European context, on a teaching and a journalist level, promoting the professional mobility of the journalism students/young journalists is essential. This allows the FEJS members to re-enforce academic and professional skills, through professional experiment in foreign countries. This experience may also be extended to teachers or journalists that are a part of the FEJS network.
The role of the Secretariat is to promote this mobility program among academic and professional institutions. This straight cooperation is intended to gather working experience within a large branch of opportunities. Once these opportunities exist the Secretariat will inform FEJS members about them, as well as required conditions and deadlines. This effort of allowing the organization members a foreign working experience will be also a way of approaching the FEJS to the European media market.

FEJS’ “Mobility Program” will look for partnerships, among others, with European Commission programs, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Socrates. The FEJS Secretariat ought to promote and coordinate all the application forms for these programs. Nevertheless, these proposals, according to the European Commission regulations, have to be presented at the European Union Agencies in each country. Thus, the local FEJS structures will be responsible for the formalization of these proposals, in permanent contact with the Secretariat.
This project is currently under development. To additional information contact the Secretariat.

One Response to “FEJS Projects”
  1. Interesting website, I look forward to reading more about your program via your website. Interesting that its a European based perspective, do you think including other part of the world would impact or deviate significantly.
