FEJS Meetings
Annual Congress
The Annual Congress (AC) is the biggest FEJS activity, gathering more than 100 journalism students from all over Europe. Every year the ACs focus on a specific journalistic topic. Participants are approaching to it through lectures, forum debates and workshops, together with specialists from the fields AC is including in its title.
General Assembly
The General Assembly (GA) is organised and chaired by the Supervisory Board, and takes place during the autumn every year. The purpose of the GA is to discuss issues concerning the FEJS in general, the upcoming AC and the activities of the AC Organising Committee and the Secretariat. At the GA the OC presents its plan and a budget. The Secretariat reports on its work since the last AC and its budget. The SB reports on its activities.
Lab
In May 2002, a brand new FEJS event was tested and considered very successful. The Croatian National Office organised the first FEJS LAB focused on photojournalism. An abandoned town in the Croatian Island of Hvar was the set chosen for the workshop that put together masters and apprentices of photography. The outcome of that experiment probably determined the implementation of a third official moment of FEJS. The FEJS LABs are oriented to professional and advanced level apprentices.
Cultural Field Trip
In April 2005, the day after the Annual Meeting (AM), the first Cultural Field Trip in FEJS’ history will be organised - by Istanbul Bilgi University FEJS Group. Its purpose is to make FEJS spirit continue after the AM (now the AC). This event is a first concrete result of the Belgrade Charter, accepted in November 2004, where regional FEJS events are emphasised as an important base of the FEJS movement. Aims of the Cultural Field Trip are: getting to know the country/city where trip is taking place (cultural and natural heritage), getting to know the media situation there, and continuing the good social atmosphere from the AC. Hopefully after the Istanbul Cultural Field Trip 2005 this will also become a regular, yearly FEJS event.
