“Information society and its impact on youth media”
Forum of European Journalism Students Macedonia (FEJS Macedonia ) is organizing the East European conference which will take place in Macedonia 12th and 13th September 2008.

The Conference is supported by East-East Partnership Beyond Borders Program of OSI Foundation and Central European Initiative and will gather 60 participants all over the Europe, but mainly young journalists or media professionals who are working in online media in CEE and SEE.

The conference will allow:

  • Exchanging contacts and transferring experience between students and young journalists about online youth media in Europe .
  • Discussing the role of the Information technology in formation of relevant youth media and portals and their important role for young generation.
  • Sharing the opinions about influence of these youth media in the global Net and for the online journalism today
  • Debating about new topics concerning the development of the Information Society including its positive and negative impacts toward Globalization and “Virtual’ life of young people in Central and Eastern Europe and Caucuses.
  • Review of the relevant youth online media trough case studies and evaluation of their role for democratic development and promotion of public opinion of young people in these regions.

The Conference will be organized in four working sessions

  • 1st session: Global media village,
  • 2nd session: Youth online media and Youth portals,
  • 3rd session: Blogs, forums, yahoo groups, facebook, myspace, hi5, and
  • 4th session: Online communities: life online and virtual reality

    the virtual reality is going to be / already is huge. Imagine testing out economic policies on virtual economies, and media/info technology in virtual space before you apply to real world. Very cool idea. Looking forward to results of conference.
